On November 9, 2020, Adobe announced a definitive agreement to acquire Workfront for US$1.5 billion. Workfront’s CEO, Alex Shootman, continued to lead the team reporting to Anil Chakravarthy. The acquisition was integrated into Adobe Experience Cloud and officially completed in early December 2020.

Workfront (formerly AtTask) was a cloud-based work management platform designed for companies with high project workloads, marketing campaigns, and complex workflows. Its goal was to unify planning, execution, and monitoring of projects in one environment, enabling teams to collaborate effectively, track progress, and make quick decisions.

Workfront provided tools for project management, resource allocation, scheduling, budget tracking, and integration with other corporate systems. A key feature was its role-based workflow automation, which reduced administrative tasks. It was widely used by marketing teams, creative studios, and IT departments managing multiple parallel projects.

In 2020, Adobe acquired Workfront to integrate its functionality into the Adobe ecosystem (Creative Cloud, Experience Cloud). It is now known as Adobe Workfront, keeping its core idea: delivering full control and transparency in work processes.
