In June 2015, Microsoft acquired the German company 6Wunderkinder, creator of the popular Wunderlist app, for approximately $100–200 million. In April 2017, Microsoft announced it would gradually discontinue Wunderlist in favor of its new Microsoft To Do app, and as of May 6, 2020, Wunderlist synchronization was completely shut down.

Wunderlist was a popular cloud-based task management service launched in 2010 by the Berlin-based company 6Wunderkinder. Its main goal was to provide users with a simple and intuitive tool for planning personal and professional tasks. The service allowed users to create task lists, organize them by categories, set reminders, and share lists with others, making it useful for both personal and team collaboration. Thanks to cloud synchronization, Wunderlist was accessible across various platforms: Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, and via the web.

Wunderlist was known for its minimalist design, ease of use, and features such as subtasks, file attachments, and comments. It quickly gained popularity and attracted over 13 million users worldwide.

In 2015, 6Wunderkinder was acquired by Microsoft, which began integrating Wunderlist’s features into a new product called Microsoft To Do. In May 2020, Wunderlist was officially shut down, and users were encouraged to migrate to Microsoft To Do. Despite its closure, Wunderlist left a significant mark on productivity tools and inspired the creation of new services, including Superlist, developed by former founders.
