Kanbanize did not shut down. It was rebranded and repositioned as Businessmap. The core technology and customers remain, but the product shifted from a Kanban-centric identity to a broader enterprise execution platform focused on strategy alignment and portfolio management.
Kanbanize was a Bulgarian-founded project and portfolio management platform built around the Kanban methodology. It started as a visual workflow tool that helped teams map their processes onto digital boards, limit work in progress, and optimize flow. Over time, it evolved beyond a simple Kanban board into a more advanced system supporting cross-team coordination, automation rules, analytics, and enterprise portfolio visibility.
The product targeted mid-size and enterprise organizations that needed structured execution without the rigidity of traditional project management software. It offered features such as customizable boards, dependencies, OKR alignment, business rules automation, forecasting, and reporting. A key differentiator was its focus on “flow efficiency” and measurable execution performance, positioning itself between lightweight task managers and heavyweight enterprise PM suites.
Kanbanize gained traction among operations teams, IT departments, and transformation-focused companies adopting Lean and Agile at scale. It emphasized transparency, predictability, and alignment between strategy and daily work. The platform gradually expanded into portfolio management and enterprise workflow orchestration, competing with tools like Jira, Monday.com, and Azure DevOps in structured environments.
In short, Kanbanize was a workflow execution platform that grew from a Kanban board tool into a broader enterprise work management system.
